AWOL again, for what...5 months?  Yikes.

Leaving soon for the little beach house sanctuary that overlooks a few prime Kauai surf spots with delightful names like Acid Drop and Heroin (see picture to the left <=.  I'm no surfer, so I can't quite pinpoint the demarcation between Acid Drop and Centers,  but this is the general area near PK's.  Anyway, the family spends way too much time wandering along the beach in front of the house in search of crabs and fish to play with.  I call it lava scrawling.  The rocks are very sharp and unstable and it is hard not to stumble (and occasionally fall).  So, our hobby at the beach house is lava scrawling (stumbling, falling down, getting scratched and leaving blood patterns on the rocks).  It is loads of fun, except for the scars I still bear from last year.

Anyway, I decided to give up my tickets for Comic-Con and Otakon, and nix my plans for Anime Expo this year so I could go spend the rest of summer in Kauai.  Not a bad tradeoff, and I think I need a break.  No, I definitely need it.  I'm slowly dying in the Oklahoma heat, and the yellow grass outside is starting to resemble Bakersfield, not Green Country.  I'm mellllllltiiiiiing!

So, I'll take my new camera backpack, a new 32GB memory card for the Nikon,  PSP, iPad and a little ball jointed YoSD Hina Ichigo doll (hoping the Volks store in LA can tune her up a bit on the way home) and a few DVDs I haven't seen and head out for Heaven.  I mean Kauai.  Same place in my book.  Aloha!
